It’s in honour of this event that the theme of this year’s festival is LIBERTY – art, science and philosophy being its direct consequence.

Every human action is based on a vision. No vision however could exist without the concept of liberty, an idea that originated in ancient Greece and gave birth to the first European culture.

It‘s in the spirit of liberty as a common cultural purpose and ideal that we embark upon this year’s musical journey. The Greek term „ELEUTHERIA“ is derived from the two words „ελεύθω“ / „to move towards“ and „ερώ“ / „to love“, meaning the ability to consciously pursue what our heart desires. Freedom of the mind and of the heart are equally necessary to live in liberty. This is best illustrated in the ancient Greek myth of Prometheus, the creator of mankind, who – at great sacrifice – steals fire from the Gods and brings it to the people, thereby spreading the very spark that would create human intellect, ingenuity and creativity. In short, he gave them the gift of freedom. Without freedom, any form of artistic expression would be unthinkable. In history and today, music is the first place in which the spirit of liberty is manifested and the last bastion to fall when freedom wavers.

["post-1844","festival","type-festival","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry
["GET
